Editions

Editions

Every edition includes a call for entries, two rounds of judging, screenings of the selection and public deliberations. Founded in 2022; the second edition was held in Shitang, Zhejiang, in 2025.

What an edition includes

01

The call

Open to Chinese-language documentary authors worldwide. Sixty minutes or under, no entry fee, no premiere requirement.

02

Judging

An international preliminary round and a final round. Shorts and mid-length work compete on the same stage, against the same standard.

03

On the ground

Screenings of the selection, Q&As, masterclasses and public deliberations. The executive committee covers the cost of bringing selected filmmakers.

04

What follows

Partner festivals in Vesoul and Brussels receive films put forward from the selection.

2025

Second Edition

The second edition was staged together with the Donghai International Documentary Masterclass Camp in Shitang, Zhejiang — a stone fishing town on the East China Sea known as “the Notre-Dame of the East”. Twelve of 502 entries reached the final round, and five jurors decided the outcome after four hours of debate.
